    Hello Everybody,
This is my first time upgrading these parts so I need a bit of advice.Ok I currently have an Athlon 2600+ CPU & MSI KT4V motherboard.I was looking at these 2 as an upgrade

what do you think.I also have a XFX 6600 GT Graphics card so I need a board with AGP x8.But I think the board I am looking at has a PCI express slot aswell as a VGA slot,am I right. Also I would like a motherboard with onboard audio as I dont really want to get a sound card aswell.I would really appreciate any advice as I am really confused as what to go for.In terms of what I am willing to spend I would say around about £150 for the lot.So I you have any better choices for me that would be great.Ive looked at a lot of options but there is to much to choose from my head really hurts(Too Much Information)Thanks alot & Merry Christmas.

Looks ok, but I'd wait until after xmas (sales!) and I'd also save a bit more and get a core 2 cpu, the Intel range is brilliant.

Yes, you have to pay a fair bit more but I'd say it's worth it in the long run - I wouldn't be surprised if the Pentium D range went out of date like the Athlon XP range did.

However, having said that - that will certainly push out enough power to run todays games (not to their full capacity however).

What RAM will you be using?

Ive got just over a gig of ram at the moment.I dont really want to upgrade that if I dont have to.Its DDR 333mhz

I just got recommended these two
Intel Core 2 Duo E6300, Socket 775, 1.86 GHz, 1066MHz FSB, Allendale Core, 2MB Cache, Retail - £113.96 Inc VAT
    Asrock 775DUAL-VSTA VIA PT880, S775, AGP / PCI-Express, DDR/DDR2 400/533/667, SATA I, SATA RAID, VGA - £35.83 Inc VAT
    What you think

In any case if I did go for these 2 I would see a big improvement over my current set up,would i not?

Yes you would see an improvement, but that motherboard doesn't appear to have an AGP port, so you'd have to replace the graphics too.

And you'd see a big difference if you bought DDR2 ram as well in the future...
