can anyone help, checked psu/ram/cpu, they're ok. i think this only leaves the mobo, when i try to boot the hdd spins and searches, monitor clicks in but no graphics so i don't even know if it's reaching bios just no vga/ps2 output.
    1. any way to test from bootable floppy/cd - if the bios will allow
    2. any pluggin devices to check various components on the mobo
    3. any suggestions!!!

    HEELLPPP!!
    cheers

opening title still holds for a new (probably fatal) problem.

after bios backdate in windows environment, clicked to restart (trying to see if i lost the onboard graphics at the previous bios update, so thought to roll back and see if problem persists - meaning probably hardware fault)

at the point of shutdown whipped out the agp card and plugged monitor into onboard vga.

i get nothing now! no onboard vga or any agp card working, no beeps, hdd light comes on for a while, no power light

anyone know if i've definitely killed the mobo before i waste anymore time on it!
    cheers

restoring the bios in windows doesn't make much sense to me. Regardless, you may try resetting your BIOS settings back to factory defaults. Look inside your computer and remove the watch battery from your motherboard. You have to do this while the computer is unplugged. After about 10-15 minutes of holding the power button, put the battery back in and plug your computer back in. After that, your bios settings will be junk and the computer will reset them to factory defaults. If there was a problem with your BIOS that was keeping your computer from booting, this should fix it.

Also, make sure to rule out hard drive and optical drives keeping your computer from booting. No display often means no boot, definitely if you have tried different video cards. You said you have already tried PSU, RAM and CPU. I can't think of anything else that would keep your motherboard from booting.
