I'm working on a PC for s lady. The hard drive has a working copy of WIN-XP home, but the PC does not bot up at all. Black Screen and no lights on the keyboard. I replaced the p/s and still nothing. Where can I get a good price on a motherboard for this PC? Thanks,

Be sure it is the motherboard before replacing, check your power switch first by shorting out the PS_ON pins at the motherboard with the tip of a screwdriver if still nothing disconnect everything except CPU, memory, power supply(also pull out the drives power connectors), speaker and power switch. Also try some different memory or try taking a bar out if you have more than one and alternate them.

This maybe a real dumb question but have you tried a different power lead?

Thanks for the reply! I've checked more things, and the power supply works. When the power button is pressed, the p/s comes on, but there are no post error beeps, and no video. I replaced the video card, I've taken one memory module out leaving only one, tried boot with that one and nothing. I reversed it using the other, and still no video or anything. I looked and their is evidence that the monitor plug on the motherboard has been bent and dammaged, and I still get no beeps or video. Do you think it's safe to now replace the mother board? Thanks for the input!
