Motherboard Help (newbie)

Hi all, im new to building PC's, and i ran across a problem that maybe someone can help me with.
I have a P4C800E Deluxe mobo from from Asus. But when i hook my stuff up i get a "Bad bios cheksum" Every single time. My question is basically: Will running this board with only 1 stick of ram (3 empty slots) cause this problem? I have sent my board back, only to have the same problem repeat. My friend said something about needing atleast 2 sticks of ram and 2 terminators. Im F*****'ing clueless. Please help?
*ps* running Corsair 512mb pc 3700 ram stick

 

Is the RAM in Bank 0, if so try putting it in Bank 1

But it doesn't look as if it can handle PC3 700 RAM

Read the manual to your Mobo, it should say right there whether it needs 2 sticks of RAM. I have an ASUS board as well, it DOES require 2 RAM modules. Chances are that is what you need.

I was wondering if anyone could post a link for the type of ram i need or that you would reccommend. Im looking for 1gb of ram, preferably between 2 512 sticks. Any help would be soooo much appreciated!
