Hello fellow Geeks, I wish to put a new MB into an XP Pro system with SP2, but I do not want to risk getting driver conflicts from the old motherboard how can I do this ?

    :major :cool

    1. Delete the present hardware profile.

    2. Delete all of the devices in the device manager.

    3. You tell me what I should do.

The chances of replacing the mb and keeping your xp is slim, back up what you want to keep and reinstall xp with the new chipset and drivers that come with the new motherboard. ed

I was thinking the same thing as "tunered said", but does anybody think it would work with any of my options ?

Any thing that you delete is worthless because that is stored on your hard drive in windows, windows will have to be reinstalled, so there fore you will need to start from scratch, The chipset and video, lan ,audio, modem, whatever else more than likely will be different on another mother board, am i making sense now? If you wish to replace the mb with one just like it these problems will not arise, but no upgrade there. ed
