motherboard help

Hi I'm looking to replace a emachine T2682 motherboard, it has a p4, 2.6 ghz 478 socket microatx with video onboard. I found this HP/COMPAQ - P4 SYSTEM BOARD SOCKET 478 400MHZ FSB FOR EVO D500 (253219-002). for cheap, but I can't find any info about if it will work! Anybody give me any clue?

 

It should work. BUT- my research shows that the T2682 is a Celeron, not a Pentium 4. So, if your CPU is a Celeron, you should be OK. If your CPU is actually a Pentium 4, there's a chance you'll have trouble. Not a real high chance though.... BUT- the T2682 takes DDR memory, and the motherboard from an Evo D500 takes SDRAM memory..... I think I posted in one of your earlier threads... you'd really be better off buying a new motherboard.

thanks! I don't think I'll buy it then, your right, its a Celeron, and I don't want to invest in more memory. I've never done this before, so its a bit of an adventure, I love working on this stuff though.

 

When you track down the motherboard you're going to buy, let us know the make and model, and maybe we can offer some advice or answer some more questions for you....
