    Hello,

I've been having memory issues lately, I ran some memory tests to find out that I have two defective sticks. I contacted OCZ and found out that they no longer manufacture DDR2 memory and they are sending me a refund for my defective sticks.

With that I've decided to upgrade my motherboard to one which handles DDR3 memory and that will last me some future upgrades.

I've picked out this one. I know that it will fit my processor and video/audio cards, I have the right power cords and etc.

Since I am moving from DDR2 memory to DDR3 memory I wanted to make sure that I am getting memory which will work in my new board. I'm not sure if there are any quirks or compatibility issues with this new memory since I've never used it before. Quite frankly I'm sick as a dog right now too and just too lazy to do anymore research, I figured I would post here so that someone more experienced and qualified can make sure I'm good.

There are two options I'm looking at, one is this one and the other is here.

The way I look at it is, with the two sticks of 4gigs each I have room for a future upgrade to 16gigs if necessary, but I also believe you get what you pay for. For a gaming PC which option should I go for? Would you recommend another RAM package beside the two I've chosen?

Any insight you have to offer I would be grateful for,

    Thanks a million,

    Ryalena

Welcome Ryalena:) Can you post your operating system, your CPU and video card please,we can then give you the best possible advice:)

In general your about to spend a hell of a lot of money for very little performance increase, you will never need more than 8gigs of memory,8gigs is actually considered TOO much for gaming,6gigs is plenty.

    Windows 7 X64bit - Its the Rockers Team ATI 2010 x64 edition.

AMD Phenom II x4 965 Processor, was a gift this year for Christmas.

And my video card is an ATI Raedon HD 5800 series. I can't remember the exact model number right now, I think it might be 8570.

edit: I choose a crossfire ready motherboard since I plan on getting another video card in the near future, probably after exams. (April-ish)
