    Hi new here.

I just bought a new ECS RS485m-m with ddr2 ram and a AMD processor and a Nvida 8600 graphics card. Everything works brilliant apart from the sound. The motherboard has intergrated sound on it. Realtek 97 is what it says it is. Basically. I installed the drivers on xp and restarted the computer.. Everything was installed correctly it even said so but i cant get any sound.. I clean installed with vista.. Got the drivers and installed them but still no sound. I have the sound now working in one speaker but it doesnt give out sound only high distorted sound everytime a sound should play. Can you give me some help please!

Did you go to realtek to get the drivers...I have read other people w/ same type of prob that had to get drivers from realtek website.

    ftp://202.65.194.212/pc/audio/6241_Vista_APO.zip

Also, make sure that in the vista audio properties that the realtek device is set for playback.

    Check the bios settings.

One other weird thing....do you have the Front Panel audio plugged in? If so, what happens when you unplug it?

I wouldn't spend too much time on it. YOu might have to get on the phone w/ the mobo manufacturer...maybe you got a lemon. Since it did it in xp and vista. It should have ran just fine in xp.

Everything looks kosher. You may have a bad audio chip on your MOBO.

One last thing I thought about, does your fornt panel connectors have the jumpers on them? If not what happens when you put jumpers on sets 6-7 amd 9-10. They ususally ship w/ jumpers over these.

I would call or try to chat w/ the tech support for oyour MOBO b4 too late and see if they will RMA your board for you right away, maybe there is something you have to set in vista they know and you don't.

Sorry I can't give you more info.

On your mobo there should be a set of 10 pins, with 2 jumpers on them.

Yours is in the bottom left just below the pci slot. It should have 2 greenishblue jumbers on them.

the 1st jumper should be on pins 9-10 closest to the front of the case, and the 2nd jumber should be covering set 5-6.

Between the 2 jumpers should be 1 lowly pin on its own.
