I've been looking and looking (Doing yahoo searches anyway) for information on what the specs of motherboards mean.

Could someone please explain what these terms all mean.. I'm going to be buying a new motherboard soon, and would really love to learn more about this stuff. Anyway...

What is the max bus speed? Thats FSB right? (Like on this computer I had 100 normal FSB, and I turned it up a bit and it made my computer faster..) Am I looking for a high FSB or a low FSB?

Ram type... if it says DDR and SD RAM, does that mean it will take both? And when it says max memory (ie: 3GB) that is just the total it can take before extra isn't recognized right? Say I had 4 sticks of 1 gig DDR, the last stick wouldn't count right?

    I'm probably going to be buying a "Asus A7V600-X KT600 Chipset 1AGP8x/5PCI/3xDDR400 w/Sound SATA Raid USB 2.0 Lan ATA-133".

I understand what the sound, SATA, USB, and LAN are, and I get the whole slot thing.... but the 3xDDR400 is confusing me... And same with the ATA-133...

Also, that motherboard is compatible with a Barton 2500+ processor, right? The processor, which I have already, is a 333mhz FSB... is that a problem with my motherboard?

Any help is appreciated! Thanks geeks~

Your AMD Barton XP 2500+ processor will work an any socket A MOBO, that supports up to XP2500 cpu

Memory go with DDR (SDRAM = sloooower)

3 x DDR 400 means has three slot's for three sticks of ram, total size or amount depends on the MOBO ( some MOBO's support 2G's of memory, some 3, all depends)

ATA 133 is refering to Hard Disk Drive or HDD is speed, kinda of newest fastest Industry standard, all mobo that support this can also support the older and slower HDD's /ata100, ata66, ata33/ (ATA 133 is backwards compatibable!)
You can also go with SATA HDD is faster that ATA, soon all new pc will come with SATA
