Running Ubuntu 9.04, swapped motherboard and cpu, ( AMD socket A).
Now have error 2 when loading grub. I know that I can use my
Ubuntu cd to bring up a terminal. What do I need to do to repair
my installation, without reinstalling Ubuntu ?
    Thanks

try downloading the Ubuntu Alternate cd and boot form that, it should give you the option to repair an installed system

Will do, and report back as to the outcome.

Downloaded the Ubuntu Alternate install cd, and in the process of performing the repair found that there was no OS on the HDD. Not sure how that happened. Anyway, I went with a fresh install of Ubuntu 9.10.
I am disappointed, not because I lost a few files but, because I did not get to learn how to do a repair of Ubuntu. Guess I'll have to do another hardware change just so I can practice with the repair cd.:)
