i know this may sound like a stupid question but here goes.
I am upgrading my motherboard and cpu to a p4, and am running winXP...
I was told that windows would require re-registering if i do...
should i get a new registration code from microsoft, and if so, how would i go about doing so?
thanx for your patience with my inexperience....

Save yourself some headache. Do a clean install after upgrading your motherboard.

Then, if windows won't reactivate over the net (pretty good chance it will activate if its been over 120 days since you last activated), go through phone activation, call the number on your screen, then try to reactivate. If it still fails, it will send you to a live person.

Then explain to them you replaced your motherboard and need to be reactivated. They just want to make sure its still the same computer.

    Then they will activate you.

You read them the numbers, they read back the confimation number.
