Ok I took this mobo out of an E-Machine, with onboard vid, audio, lan that was working about 4 months ago just got a new processors in and figured I could use the Mobo.
I tried the new Celeron D 2.4 and nothing..
I then tried it in my PC's mobo and it booted just fine

I tried the following tests on the emachine mobo
    -CPU,RAM,HD -wont boot
    -CPU,RAM -wont boot
    -CPU -wont boot
    -Switched PSU's same thing

and when I take power away I can see the cpu fan giggle as it losses power

I figure I have a dead board just seeing if any one has any suggestions?

First of all...there used to be an issue (don't know if it's still the case)...that you couldn't use just any 3rd party products with compaq computer. This isn't just with compaq...Dell, Gateway, Acer, and other companies like that do the same!!

For example...they change a couple of the rails on the power supply connector!! It appears exactly like a regular psu connector, except, with a couple of the wires switched around!! Which...in turn...would require the connector on the motherboard to be reengineered!! To make a long story short...You had to buy the psu or mobo from compaq in order for one to be compatible with the other...which is a good way for them to rip you off!!!!!

If that is not the case for you...what EXACTLY is the make and model of the mobo?? Usually it is printed somewhere on the mobo, atleast some kind of serial # or model # etc., that with a little online research, you will find out the make and model!! Once you find out the make and model of mobo...you need to research to what extent it will let you upgrade the cpu or other add- on parts. Or post it here and i'm sure someone will help you research!!
