Mounting Old Game On Dosbox 0.74

I am trying to mount an old game on Dosbox Version 0.74.
My computer is a Dell Optiplex 780 32 bit running Windows 7 Professional.

My hard drive is C: and the game is on a D: drive.
At Dosbox prompt Z:\ I typed "mount c d:\dosprogs" as suggested by the manual.
This command came with "Directory d:\dosprogs doesn't exist.

I also tried typing "mount c d:games"
That also gave the doesn't exist message.

Is there something else that I may try to change the directory so I can mount the game?

 

You need to type mount c d:\games (you left out the \)
You can also try and drag & drop the game's .exe file onto the DOSBOX's application icon.

 

Thanks for your reply. I did use the \ originally. When I tried it again, I got the same error message.

I tried to drag & drop the games .exe file, I got another error message "The program can't start because smackw32.dll is missing. Can I get around this?

 

smackw32.dll is part of the smacker video codec which was used by various game makers.
So the problem is with the game, not DOSBox.

There are numerous sites were you can download the file - just search for smackw32.dll.
Unfortunately I can't vouch for any of those sites.
I would recommend re-installing the game or finding a another copy.
