Every once in awhile, but not all the time my mouse arrow will move by itself. Up or down, sometimes left to right, just for a split second, the sucker will take off. Anyone have any ideals,,,,,,I'm running Windows ME,HP XL775,512 ram,,,all my drivers are updated,my system is running grrrrrrrrrrrrrr8,,,,, ( knock on wood ).

Is it optical mouse? If yes then I suggest get a good dark, material mousepad.

Your most likely using a wireless set. They are basically unreliable...

    never buy cordless...

This actually happens to me as well.
I have a run-of-the-mill mouse. Been meaning to buy an optical one for a while, I'm just too lazy to go out to the store. :D

Most IntelliPoint's start acting crazy when they are about to go out. If you've already updated your drivers (no avail), uninstalled and re-installed your drivers (no avail), tried a mousepad specifically for Intellipoint optical mouse (no avail), then just replace it.

Have you tried the mouse on another desktop machine to see if it's a desktop hardware/software issue, or the hardware mouse itself?
