I did search before anyone throws a nutty. None of what I found had an answer for me.

My mouse is double clicking even though it is not set to do so. I click and let go and it works as two clicks instead of one. I have a Microsoft laser mouse.

    Any ideas?

    As always, thank you.

There is a setting in control panel -> folder options that lets you open folders with a single click. Check that is not turned on.

    Hi,

That's one failure mode of the micro-switches used in the mouse. Reverse the use of the right and left buttons and see what you get. Try another mouse.

    Good Luck, Jim

Mouse are fairly cheap that I always have a few spare ones (both PS/2 and USB wired and unwired) to easily test if it is hardware or software.
