Mouse lag

So, a few weeks ago I got my new parts, basically a new computer, and installed xp pro after the format. Everything seems to be working ok, except the mouse (razer copperhead). It works, but it's really laggy UNTIL I start a game (pretty much any game: quake3, fear, battlefield, call of duty 2, serious sam 2, system shock 2 and every other game I've tried). The mouse works great when playing games and when I quit the game the mouse movement is still as smooth as it's supposed to be. So for some strange reason starting a game will fix the lag until next reboot.

I've tried reformatting/reinstalling the mouse/gfx drivers and two different versions of windows xp professional(sp1/sp2)/updating bios/mouse firmware/configuring the graphics card/winxp mouse fix's etc.

The mouse worked fine with the old parts: p4 3ghz, 9800 pro, asus p4-c800D, kingston 512MBx2 400mhz, intel 380W. OS was xp home (sp2).

New parts: e6600, 7950gx2, GA-965P-DS4, geil pc-6400 1GBx2, enermax liberty 500W. OS is xp pro (sp2).

I've also tried omega drivers/changing refresh rate/resolution.

I'm really out of ideas. This is a small problem but still I'd love to get this fixed somehow.

this might sound stupied, but have you tried another mouse just to make sure it is the mouse?
