Had this happen before and I can not remember why, but its annoying. The mouse cursor goes beyond the screen only to the right and bottom. This is the biggest pain because sometimes you lose your cursor position. Another oddity is that programs can do this as well. During alt tab froma game its worse and has its own oddities. Some programs minimize and wont restore where I can see them. When I exit the game, I have to reboot to get programs to open. They open to the taskbar, but not on screen. So its in the tray or takbar.

Another example is my staus bar on Outlook express when checking email is off the screen, cant see it at all. Odd. I had tried a ATI card, removed it and went back to my 5900 Nvidia with newest drivers and Directx. Prior to that, it was a clean install. Tried plug and play monitor and proper drivers as well as different screen resolutions. Tried moving the screen to the left to get at the programs, but not there. In other words, the end of the viewable area is at the edge of the screen, but I can still go past it into nowhere land.

What is it I am missing because I can not remember.

Have you tried re-setting the resolution? (like to another, then back to the one you had originally).

Oops, guess you have (cant read). Does the card have a TV out? If so, have you disabled it if you're not using it?

I had a similar problem, I'm using Nvidia AGP card,
program's opening off srceen or partway off.
My soloution was simple, in Nview desktop manager under windows tab, I checked box = Prevent windows from opening off-screen

And for the mouse mine can go off screen to bottom and to right.
(I running dual monitors, dual screens, side by side) I believe is nature of the beast.
If I set up over and under screen set up if I remember right mouse can go off screen up as well.

Not finding that, can you be more specific where that is?

I'm not familiar with driver auto centering tools, but it sounds like your monitor has lost it's preferences for the different resolutions/refresh rates. My Samsun monitor shifts the picture around depending on changes in those. Current monitors generally remember their preferred settings once you manually tweak them, but sometimes lose their memories, particularly if you've had the monitor unplugged for a while.

I'd use the Nokia Monitor Test's Screen Geometry screen grid to locate the edges of the picture, then manually re-adjust the picture to proper size and location. Should maintain it after you set it.

I'm wondering if your desktop actually *is* bigger. Maybe you have a resolution of 1024x768, but the size of the desktop area is 1280x1024. In theiry there'd be scroll bars, but AFAIK there's almost always a way to disable scroll bars. However, except for people looking to find programs to let you do this, I can't find anything about it.

If you, say, add a streched wallpaper, is the entire image on the screen? What about if you maximize windows?

I seem to remember getting this kind of error after exiting some games under WIndows 98. But that was so long ago my memory has faded.

I'll Try (bad memory not my pc, me)
I'm using 5.3.0.3 drivers, but makes no differance.
I'm on dual monitor setup. (run dual setup on two rigs, both Nvidia, one Gforce4 mx440, and the other FX5200 mostly same features no matter drivers i've used)
After installed AGP card run thru driver install, Then get option to use set up wizard, or use control pannel, This part where bad memory comes in.
I belive I just enabled desk top manager, which opened up aditional window or settings features.
If in control pannel you dont have desktop manager Icon, go to display Icon, open display properties, then hit settings Tab, then advanced box, then you'll have several other tabs, general, adapter, monitor, color management, and tab for model of AGP card click on that one, then on right side, should be little arrow, click on that, opens up all settings options, near bottom of list is desk top management, click it.
Some where thru the above, should get option to enable desk top manager?

    Hope that helps.
You had same problems with ATI? Tomarrow I'm setting up another dual rig using ATI 9200se, if find out anything that may help ya I'll post it.

I would have posted sooner, but had to go to son's spring league varsity championship hockey game (They WON! SWEET! 5 to 1)

That may only be an option if dual monitors are setup, because on my wife's machine, I sifted all through the desktop manager and did not see that. She is not using dual monitors though.

I too was thinking that, but with that in mind, if the graphics card is capabile of dual output, doesent mean you have to use feature, although can be setup, not necessarily used.

Just a note about mouse control, put rechargables in wireless, worked fine for awhile then it became extreamly sporadic, had little controled behavior, arrow went to edge of screen. so I changed batt (still using rechargable) still no control noticed rechargables only 1.2 volts, regulars are 1.5 only regs work in my cordless. Hey while Im on here thought I might ask about my outlook program when ever i open it I get black box that says c:\Progam Files \Messanger\msmsg.exe
Program to big to fit in memory. I had turned off windows messenger and it wont give me access when i try to open it any more. also turned it off through x-set up pro. any ways how can i get rid of this black box and why is it to big for mem. Im new to all this only had pc for 1 year first one. xp home edition thanx
