Mouse problem in WinME

I'm working on a PC running WinME (I know, I know) and the mouse doesn't work; no pointer, nothing. I plugged in a USB mouse after the desktop had loaded, WinME picked it up and installed it, but still no pointer or mouse action. I booted in safe mode and the regular PS2 mouse works just fine. Any suggestions, help, or ideas will be greatly appreciated!!!! THANX!

Only thing i can find is it might be caused by a mouse driver conflict, but you most likely looked for this.

 

Yeah- I checked for any driver conflicts right off the bat.... I'm thinking I'll reload 'over-the-top' (as to not lose any data) and that should fix it.... If anybody has any other ideas as to why the PS2 mouse works fine in safe mode, but there's no pointer or mouse action in normal mode w/ either a PS2 mouse or a USB mouse, please post!!! I'd rather fix the problem than reload Windows..... THANX!!!!!
