Mouse Problems

I have an optical mouse that is lagging, really badly. It started a few weeks ago and is getting progressively worse. Today it froze up completely and I had to reboot. I'm running XP and my computer is about three years old, using Avast, Ad Aware, and a firewall. I'm in the middle of a semester and taking online classes so I really need to fix this ASAP. Does anyone have a solution?

 

rry going start>control panel>system>hardware>device manager and look to see if any of your drivers for harsdware are either miss installed or have a yellow wuestion mark over their icon this could tell if its a driver problem

 

Especially wireless meece, mouses, moose?

 

Ok, I'll get a new mouse and see if that does the trick. It would be nice if it were that simple and not some kind of virus that's going to be hard to find. I'll let you know how it goes.

 

Thanks for the help all. It turns out you were right and that the only problem was I needed a new mouse. Mine passed away peacefully and quietly. Now I am the new owner of a laser mouse which has a much faster response time!
