Hey everyone. Ive got a good one.

I have a Dell Inspiron 6000 with the volume control buttons on the front. I've had it a number of years, running XP SP2.

I just ran into this interesting issue where the mouse will not allow me to click on things once I press the volume buttons on the front. The cursor still moves, but the buttons do not do anything. In addition to the mouse problem, the Alt-Tab function doesn't work after that point as well.

Ctrl-alt-del works, but only pops the window up, but doesn't allow me to close it with the mouse (because it wont click, remember?). When I restart the computer things go back to normal, until i want to change volume again :) Does it have something to do with the IRQ settings?

    Interesting huh?

    Thanks for any help guys.

Pretty sure it has to do with the startup program under C/Windows/maya.exe.

I think it's a virus. Working on it now.

Just an update. Cleaned the registry using CCleaner. Runs a lot better now.
