mov files' audio is chopped

The video looks ok but audio is unlistenable.

I am using the latest QuickTime alternative.

Has anyone any ideas how to overcome this problem?

 

What are your system specs?

What kind of videos are ye watching? HD?

I'm trying to watch and listen to .mov files. What is/are HD?

 

Let me rephraise this.

What operating system are ye running? I.E. windows 95, 98, me, 2000, xp, vista?
How much ram do you have? 128, 256, 512, 1024, 2048, etc...
How large is your hard drive? 10, 20, 40, 60, 80, 750 gigabytes?
When was the last time ye defragged?

 

Ok, XP Home, 1024 RAM, 40 gig hard drive (about two thirds available), defragged recently.

 

Right-click on the Quicktime icon in the Windows taskbar.

Choose Quicktime Preferences

Select the Audio tab

Next to Rate, set it to 44.1 96 khz.

Next to Size, set it to 96 khz.

Click the Apply button. Click OK.

You might have to fool around with different Rate/Size combinations if the above settings don't work.

Sampling rate already set at 44.1kHz by default.
Size set at 16 bit by default. Alternatives offered are 8 and 24 bit.

 

Try just "resetting" the default sampling rate and see if it makes a difference.

I found that one of the settings - file associations or something (sorry, I've forgotten exactly what) - was at some setting which seemed strange. I changed it to something else (sorry etc ...) and everyhting is okay now.
