Hi, I'm using mozilla firefox on winXP. I have the quicktime plugin and everything is up to date. Any time I try to play a video with the .mov extenstion, the sound plays, but the video is just a white screen. What could be causing this?

Btw, here's an example of a video that doesn't play properly for me:

I can understand why people would want to use mozilla. But the plug-ins are killing it. Give Gates a break!

Its not plugins that are killing Firefox, it is extensions. Plugins are professionally developed ports of programs like QuickTime, and Macromedia Flash Player, etc for the browser. Extensions are open-source projects by anyone with enough ambition to try their hand at coding for Firefox. This is not a good reason to switch to IE.

As a first course of action, MKorostoff, I would recommend you try running CCleaner, and trying again.

btw, your link opens the "save file" dialog for me...

Thanks Mada_Milty, but I've already tried that (I'm pretty vigellant about security, and I run CCleaner about 3 times a week). Any other ideas?

As for the link opening a "save file..." dialouge, I'm not really sure what to tell you. For me it opens to an embedded video in a new tab. I guess you could try the "open with" option if its availble.

Could Try the Free Programming of "GSpot" or "K-Lite"

Won't hurt to try the GSpot first from
GSpot [video codec identification utility] Web URL =

    http://www.headbands.com/gspot/

And the K-Lite Codec Pack (Full) [Codec Video Checker]

    Web URL

    http://www.codecguide.com/about_kl.htm

Download the "Standard Version" which contains everything you need to play all the most commonly used formats. This package should be enough for the average user. [Note read in their Web re the programs = "Basic" = "Standard" = "Full" =
On installing the K-Lite programming you may wish to uncheck the Media player and Video programming which you may wish to have on your computer????
You will find in your program menu so do have alook at same = "Configuration" = "Codec Tweak Tool" = ???
The K-Lite do install the GSpot as well ??

    Hope may help
