Move Data Table to Excel

Need free Software to move Table Data from articles to Excel Spreadsheets.
Tried copy/paste but seldom get usable results. Would this be a FTP program?
Using Windows 7 Pro, Office 2010.

 

Not sure what you mean by "Table Data from articles"; are these online articles with HTML tables?

 

Yes to online. From articles that I can copy/paste to Microsoft Word as "unformatted text". If I hilite the data tables and attempt to paste to Excel it sometimes is usable but needs a lot of editing. There used to be a FTP program that would do this.

 

Can you post a link to an article containing a table of the type you to move into Excel?

 

Not really. This is not an ongoing effort. Just occasional and I haven't used it yet this year.

 

What I would do if I needed to do this

1. open the page source
2. copy the html table
3. paste it into Notepad and save it as a .html doc
4. open that file with Excel
5. save it as an Excel doc
