    Win7 - 64 bit
When I open a folder containing files and folders I have created, I am unable to repostion any of these within the folder.
Is there a way to do this?
I used to drag and drop with XP but now I cannot.

No. This is a "feature" of windows 7.

Although I would have preferred to hear otherwise, I can do nothing about this so I'll get used to it.
    Thank you for the information.

XP and Win 7 behave exactly the same in Windows Explorer. Folders are listed first, followed by files, all in alphabetical order or, by clicking on Name, in reverse alphabetical order. You cannot reposition them, not with drag and drop nor in any other way.

So can you provide a bit more info on exactly what it is you are trying to do?

It's not a great remedy, but I have started putting a number in front of the file name to order them the way I want them to appear. It's a simple Simon trick, but it depends on how much order means to you. It was bothersome at first seeing digits, but I got used to that more quickly.

To caveat what you said, if you have more than 9 folders, the numbers have to start with 01, if more than 99, then 001, etc. Otherwise, 1 and 10 will be together, 2 and 20, etc.

Right, you are! Never tried to do more than 7. I like to keep my most used at the top. :major

I understand now that Win 7 has control of this feature.
And yes, I already have my files numbered so they are in order in my Documents folder. The files are just named which works for me.
I have a documents folder in which i keep about 8 folders and 14 files.
