Tesco sounds a lot like Trader Joe's here in Tucson.

 

Are you familiar with it, if so do you like it?

 

Tesco is the largest supermarket/retail chain in the UK, and pulling away from the field.
It overtook ASDA, after the Walmart took that chain over.

As such you can find every shade of opinion, certainly it has is good and bad points. Overall it is middle of the road, not offering the very cheapest or offering the highest quality stuff. I do find the staff are better trained and more personable than any of the other majors though.

They run a valuable loyalty card scheme which helps their edge over the others - They originally built up the business promoting 'Green Shield Stamps'.
You can get points for things like postage stamps and topping up your mobile phone at a Tesco till.
