Move software from win98 to XP

Hi all:
For once I'm ahead the problem, I have a new computer running XP, I want to move my software to it from win98. I've googled up some software that says it should do the job. But before I attempt it I thought I'd try to find out if there's anything else I should know. I've got "application mover". (apmvshr.zip). Anyone know anything?

Just reinstall the programs on your new computer. You can use Belarc Advisor to recover serial/registry keys for many programs which you might have lost. Since you're going from '98 to XP, it might be time to upgrade to newer programs.

 

Well, I have all my passwords and registration keys. Haha, I don't trust computers, so I write them down, ALWAYS, hahaha... Seriously though, I've lived through more computer crashes than...(insert your pick of phrases). It's just that looking for shortcuts and troubleshooting is (if find) a good opportunity to learn something new. More often than not it works, though not this time it seems.
Oh wait, I did find out about usb bridge cables.
But thanks Guys, you've cut down on the time I might have wasted, not to mention the added frustration of finding out later what you've just told me now. So this visit was well worth the trip.
