MoveMediaPlayer

I downloaded MoveMediaPlayer in order to watch FOX.COM videos. While I was watching a video I got a message that said, "this program may be a scam." Now my computer isn't working right ... it boots up really slow, freezes up a lot and I have to click 2-4 times on a link to get it to open.

I have run my registry, spyware and virus scans, but nothing seems to help.

What is a "scam" and how do I fix my computer? Is MoveMediaPlayer malware?

I'm not sure which program sent me the message. I have CYBERDEFENDER which has a "scam" category. Also, I had just installed IE7 because MOVEMEDIAPLAYER wouldn't download with my IE6.

 

I don't want to say this, and Ihope I'm wrong...but lately, any time, any computer starts having any kind of popup msgs saying *anything* negative, like "This is malware" .... or "This is a scam," and such, I know I'd be really concerned, as those kinds of popups are indicative of malware, well dug-in...stuff like antivirus2008, and such....and yer computer slows down?

Unless you have an app that you *know* pops up with these kinds of messages, I would be much more concerned w/the "pop-ups" themselves, than I would be with what they are saying....

How about yer browser: can you go to websites alright...?

If not, I'd trot over to the "Read and Run Me" sticky on the malware forum, if it were me...

Could be way off base tho: I'm wrong more than I'm right, that's for sure...and lately I've seen so much of these types of imitation *anti* malware, that I think I might be seeing them where they don't exist: I just reread yer post, about the anti-spyware scans and all, maybe this is something else...
