Is that piracy? If you purchase a movie, whether it's a download or a DVD, is it piracy if you make a copy for personnal use? I really want to know so I don't end up getting into trouble, because I just got a dvd burner and was planning on copying some movies for my personnal library.

No, it's not if you have paid for it, just like a videotape. It crosses the line when only one distributes it to others, or accept a copy. Now, especially, isn't a good time to be downloading movies, considering there is currently a major law enforcement push against movie piracy.

It's Legal to make one backup copy, If you own the original.
