Moving Powerpoint with a USB key

Hey all,
my girlfriend has been making a powerpoint presentation at work using Office 2003 and Windows 2000. She tried to move it to my computer to keep working on it at night, but when I try to read it off the key or transfer it to the hard drive, powerpoint tells me that it may not be a powerpoint file, and it can't read it. I also have Office 2003, but I'm running XP Home SP2.

The USB key is a new SanDisk Cruzer Micro. She hasn't really used it at all yet.

She has several .doc files on there that open, and one presentation that will open, as well as several others (all .ppt) that won't. She just told me as I was typing this that all those files that open were copied from her hard drive, but the presentations ithat won't were saved directly to the key. Could that be the problem? It does open on her computer, so I'm having her save it to the hard disk and then email it to me as soon as she gets to work this morning.

Anybody have any ideas about what could be causing this if it isn't the fact that she saved directly to the key? If that is the problem, why does it matter?

Just out of curiousity, are you able to write anything at all to the USB key?
How much free space is there on the USB key?
What is the capacity of the USB key?
What are the totals of the sizes of the *.ppt files you are trying to write to the USB key? What I am getting at, is the USB key OK and will the files fit?
You can always reformat the USB key and start all over again if need be.
