Dont think you will be able to access it from the os if you move it but, drag that folder to desktop, open the other partition and drag it where you want it. ed

Do not drag and drop it.

    No no NO!

Do you need the entire directory?

Because all of your critical folders, such as Documents, Music, etc can be relocated by simply going to Start, right clicking on folder in question, go to properties, and click on Location tab.

It will change all system wide shortcuts too.

That "location" feature, only works for the picture, documents, videos file etc

I would like to relocate the entire "users" file, and the "program files" folder as well.

Adryn, feel free to slap me if I'm ignorantly attempting the impossible.

Move the "program files" folder? Whoa there, better be careful. Think about it. When you install programs, which, by default, usually create folders and files for each program within the "program files" folder, Windows registry also gets updated with entries that may include the path to the location of certain program files, right? So, what's going to happen if you try this move? I'd bet you'll render various programs inoperable.

As you said, "That 'location' feature, only works for the picture, documents, videos file etc." If you want to move programs, you'd better uninstall the program and then reinstall it, specifying the desired location for the program files during the installation.

I know I just can't click and drag the programs folder around. The "users" file however I am unfamiliar with.

I have uninstalled/reinstalled most of the programs. Some however give no prompt as to where to install them for instance adobe reader and open office. Others still are bundled programs that came with vista- IE, windows mail, anything that starts with "windows".

Is there anyway to reinstall these apps on a different partition?
