Moxilla nor Internet Explorer would open, it said they may be behind a firewall. Then when I went to restore my system to an ealier date, the restore dates were gone. I finally reloaded my bellsouth software and got Internet Explorer up and running but still can't get Mozilla Firefox to pull up. I do not want to reload it because I have all my bookmarks saved on there. Can anyone help? I have pasted my Hijack this loag below.

You can un/reinstall Mozilla Firefox, and not lose your bookmarks. Please see this link for instructions on how to backup your profile. (This way, you won't lose ANY settings after a reinstallation.) I'm afraid that a re-install of a failing application is almost always the first course of action.

You HJT log shows you are using Internet Explorer 7,
This is still in Beta and as such possibly why you are having issues.

You have firefox installed on a seperate drive/partition to your operating system, while this shouldn't cause any issues it could be the problem

  4. crimsnkentucky

I reinstalled Firefox on my C drive and it still will not open. You say that Internet Explorer 7 may be the cause. If it is what should I do? I do not understand what it means still in Beta, could you explain?

    Thanks!

One other thing, why would my computer's system restore points be erased? I had just saved the other day so that i would be sure to have a recent restore point.

have you at any point disab;ed system restore? this is the only thing that would delete all the restore points. ?

possibly a corrupt profile or an invalid path to something.

Goto Start --> Run and type in CMD and hit enter

Type in path and hit enter

    Let me know the result

I completely uninstalled it by going to the control panel and to add/remove and removed it, then reinstalled to C: \program Files and it still won't open.

Have you tried double clicking on the executable instead of the shortcut?

    I.E. c:\program files\mozilla firefox\firefox.exe?

When you attempt to start it, does it give an error?

    Try:

START, then RUN, then type in:

    "C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\firefox.exe" -safe-mode

    Or:

    firefox.exe -ProfileManager

    Or

    Firefox.exe

  17. crimsnkentucky

No error is given, it just does nothing.

I tried your suggestions and none of those worked either.

    Odd.

Right click on the toolbar, then select task manger.

Does Firefox.exe show up on any running processes?

Yes it does, but CPU # for it keeps changing as does something called SunProtectionService.

If you are not running firefox, then open up taskmanager and "end task" firefox.

    Then try firefox again.

If it still doesn't show up, endtask firefox, then try the firefox safemode option I showed ye previously.

O.K., I went back and reloaded an older version of Moxilla, which allowed me to open it. I then downloaded the new version and tried opening the executable file and it gave me this error message: %1 not a valid Win32 application. Any ideas?

    1. Make sure you have Admin Privileges on your computer.

    2. Empty the Temp files on the computer.

    3. Make sure you are updated.

If none of these help, go to the link below and follow the steps there.

If you right click the FF icon and select open, does this work?

Have you installed a new extention or theme, recently... Many of the problems that occur with firefox are the result of buggy extentions, and not with firefox itself.
Also, do you use Mcafee antivirus, and have you recently updated the software that includes a site-advisor content?

I ask these questions as it sounds like you have installed something from your administrators account (that is not affecting your sons normal user account) as he wont have any installation authority.

Here is an excellent trouble shooter for mozilla FF!!
    http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox

    Hope this helps......good luck

ohh....a beta version is simply a pre-release 'test' version... This works on the theory that the best way to produce an effective final version, is to first test it in the marketplace in which it shall operate. (and receive feedback)

I do administrative rights, but when I go to delete that file it says I do not have access, the file is protected or there is no space left.
