    The MozBackup site [http://mozbackup.jasnapaka.com/command-line-backup.php]
    has the following instructions to create automatic backups. I understand the action and application lines and profile[either default or a specific name depending on how it is stored on my computer]. However, I start to get confused after that. Can you explain [more in laymen terms] what I do after that.

    Where do I want the output to point to? Site says "See file backup.ini for complete description - where is that? I have looked briefly at windows task scheduler [WTS] but did not carry the setup all the way through since I don't understand output. Is it in that task window that I type the lines he suggests? Or where do I type the comand lines?

    It says password is optional -- WTS says task might not run if I don't put PW in it.
    Can I really leave that blank? or do I omit that line?

    Then "
    Run MozBackup with config file:
    mozbackup.exe Default.mozprofile (or other config file)"
    I am totally confused here. How to run this config file? Where is it? Is this what I pick in WTS?

    Please, can you make it clearer for me? I want to set this up on my computers as well as on my dad's. That way, when they stop working, I have weekly backups of FF & TB and won't keep losing everything. Thanks. BTY, we run XP sp3 on all computers. From the MozBackup Site: How to backup via command line

    Starting with MozBackup 1.4.8 Alpha you can backup your Mozilla profile via command line. This means that you can schedule your backups via Windows Task Scheduler.
    All what you need is to create config file and run MozBackup with this config file like command line parameter. In program directory you can find example file Default.mozprofile. This file has INI format where you can specify action which you want to do, program, profile, output file and password if you want to protect your backups.
    Config file starts with line [General] and next there are few lines where you can specify parameters.
    Parameter Description action Action which you want to do. At this moment you can specify only value backup. application Application which data you want to backup. You must specify short application name. This means that available values are: Firefox, Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, Flock, Sunbird, Messenger, Netscape or Spicebird. profile Name of profile which you want to backup. For most people it's Default but run Profile Manager and have a look. output Path to directory with filename where you want to store your backups. In path you can specify some contants like date, profile name etc. See file backup.ini for complete description and hint how to use these constants. password This preference is optional. If you don't want to protect your backup just leave this line empty. Example:
    [General]
    action=backup
    application=Firefox
    profile=Default
    output=c:\backup.pcvpassword= Run MozBackup with config file:
    mozbackup.exe Default.mozprofile (or other config file)
    If something wrong:
    If MozBackup doesn't work like expected have a look into file error.log which you can find in MozBackup profile directory. This directory is on the same location like Firefox profiles (AppData directory) but have a look at directory MozBackup.

    I have posted to both the http://forums.mozillazine.org/ and the
    http://forum.jasnapaka.com/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=179 [mozbackup support forum] as you have suggested. However, after searching the mozbackup forum, I seem to find people asking ?s re: Mozbackup 1.4.8 actually working[not restoring well] and the auto backup it claims to do not working right either. Since I have used MG for years, I trust this forum [that's why I came here first:major].

    I used the MozBackup when I was reformatting a few months ago and it didn't want want to restore saying something like 'not a valid file'. I finally found an old file that had my favourites and used that instead but FF3 didn't want anything to do with the cookie file. I'm getting a new rig next week so I'll try MozBackup again and report back. It obviously could have been my fault, but the GUI seemed very easy to use.
