    Hi.........
I tried those links but neither of them worked.I believe I have a bigger problem.
I ran the Spyware DR. from this site but it also didn't work.My AVG anti Virus
program stopped working and I tried to Uninstall it with its own software but it
    Failed.
I ran the Malwarbytes in the short version and that came up clean.I will run the Full version later on tonight.
Anyone with any Ideas let me know. Thanks for any help! Jim

When you say the links I posted don't work, describe what happens.

You also need to include brand and model of computer, version of windows you are running (along with service packs).
Did you try and restore the computer to a time when it was working?

Hi,Will try to explain better what my computer is doing. Computer is Dell Inspiron 530 with Windows vista home basic .I keep it updated with all of the important updates usually on a weekly basis. On 8-24 I ran Belarc Advisor and it said my AVG
8.0 was lacking critical and important updates.Knowing that there was a free version 9.0,I tried to download that version but didn't have any luck.Guessing that AVG was some how blocking this download I tried to Delete AVG 8.0.My unistall couldn't do it so I tried to unistall it with AVG Uninstall program which came up with an error message.
When I try to Download AVG or Spyware DR.from this site it will start the download
and then stop with less than 10% of the download completed. It looks like it is still
downloading as the green bar flashes but nothing else is changing.
I did not try to do a Restore as I don't have the Confidence to do it..........
    Thanks for any help.
P.S. Why is this Message Private and not Public?

Huh? This is an open forum. Anyone who comes to MajorGeeks Forum, clicks on Software section can view this thread; there is nothing private about it.

This is the AVG removal tool.

Before you remove it, go here http://free.avg.com/us-en/homepage
and click in the Orange Box to download the free version.
If you are using a paid version, you might need to contact AVG for info to see if your license for v8 allows you to install v9.

Is this the Spyware DR you mean?

Sorry, I'm out of ideas why 3 different browsers refuse to allow you to download anything.

A couple of questions if you don't mind?

    1) What type of internet connection are you using, cable, DSL, dial-up?

    2) When you click on the Download@MajorGeeks link, the "Downloading" page opens up. At that point your browser should ask you to select one of the following options, [Open]/[Run], [Save], [Cancel]. Which are you selecting?

I ask this second question because in your OP you said you tried to "load" the program. To me, that sounds like you selected the [Open] or [Run] option.

    Hi,
Thanks for responding to my last post.To answer your Questions: I'm using DSL.Most of the time I select the Run option.today I tried another Download and used the save option, Same results......it starts the download and within 30 sec's it stops but it usually appears as though it is still downloading.I'm using IE for all of my Downloads as I Deleted
Firefox (latest version)before I downloaded an Older version which I prefer. Jim

This is troubling as AVG v8 was released in 2008. It should have upgraded.
    Worrying!

Can you please work through the Read & Run Me

Since downloading is a problem on this machine, use another clean PC to DL to a pen drive or burn to CD the scanners to install and run on this machine.

Start a thread and post the logs in Malware Removal.

    Cheers..
