Mozilla Firefox & Legacy Extensions.

It seems Mozilla has decided to become a mini Microsoft. We are being forced to upgrade to Firefox Quantum.
I'm using Firefox 56.0.2 and now I can't install legacy extensions? I'm being told I need to download Firefox!

Maybe it's time to look at Pale moon and Waterfox...

 

I use IE 11 when visiting Major Geeks and doing basic searches with google. Most other times I use Opera. But then, I don't translate. Don't know how either is on that.
Firefox has always updated tooo much for me to keep up. On a per gb data plan and don't care to waste much on updates.

 

Yes, way to much updates. And I'm allergic* to updates of all kinds.
I recently updated more than 10 programs without any issues, including for Windows XP, and now Mozilla spoils the party.

What you were trying to install is not a legacy extension.
That extension has been rewritten / converted to conform with WebExtensions.
The Mozilla addon site defaults to offering the latest version of the addon.
Legacy addons are still compatible with Firefox version 56. The only compatibility issue there might be with Multi-process (e10s).
What I've seen is that most developers provide access to earlier versions of their extensions.

The last version of that extension before the rewrite was 2.1.0.5.1.1-signed

I've bookmarked your link and will check all my extensions/add-ons for the last legacy versions.

FYI My version of Google Translator for Firefox is 2.1.0.5.3.
