MP 10 is maxing out processor

What have I changed/installed that is now making the media player max my processor? It used to work fine for x-vid movies, now it is struggling. can I fix this? The picture is clear but it flashes like it is stop and go!

 

Actually its most likely a codec issue, i know some codecs if not installed will cause a stuttering type issue. Perhaps you should find a codec package and install it, may help.

 

Ok , Dig it, when the view window is small it plays fine, When I make it bigger it messes up,Then full-screen, Forget it, it freezes. All the time the sound is good. I don't know what I have changed other than Nero 7 ultra. I cant see it with the nero so I am using MP 10. I have k-lite codec pack (mega) and Windows xp pack. I think maybe I have to configure the player to use the x-vid codec, But I don't know how! (I al;so have the x-vid codec) The nero does not use the x_vid codec so it is unusable in nero, However it used to work with the old version of nero before the upgrade. I installed a new burner and new nero and now I am unable to uninstall the old nero. Go figure, I thought that would be automatic. I dunno.

 

OK .. Dear Colmanguy; I have run the g-spot (codec detector). It says I have the correct codec, but not installed on the player. When it offers to export the codec to the player, and I click yes, It says "No player is associated with this file type" The MP 10 is using a combination of other codecs to view the file, So yes you were correct! I have the x-vid Codec just not associated with the MP 10,, sooooo, How do I associate such a thing? And the old version of nero no longer works at all (Missing dll ) but it still shows in the program list, not in the remove list though. Any help you could provide would be great, Thanx Mike 406 ...

A few things to help out.

This is the uninstall string for the old version of Nero.

C:\Program Files\Common Files\Ahead\Uninstall\setup.exe /uninstall

Click on Start > Run > and type the above in the window. Make sure this points to the old version and not the one you just installed.

The reason you cant watch the file in full screen may be that the original file was saved in a small screen config. like 180 X 300 or something along those lines. Check the properties of the file and see how it was saved. Nero might be able to resize the file if there is enough information there to expand it.

 

i havent read through all of this so i dont know what others have suggested but when this happend to me i hadent installed propler motherboard drivers.

It could also be the pgraphics card drivers also. so down load all the drivers you can and you your media player should start to work fine.

Ok, I have turned the resolution down two clicks and it works again! Thank you for the help! I still have the nero 6 (old) on my machine. There is no install/remove file in with the rest of the folders, nor does it appear as a choice on the add/remove in the control panel, but one thing at a time. Thank you everybody.. ps, It was a mistake when I called you the wrong name Birdbath.
