Hi... sorry about the wooly title to this thread but I really dont know how to summarise what I would like to know.....

I have recently purchased the tertiary phase CD set for the Hitchikers Guide To The Galaxy. It is on 3 Audio CD's but, as I always do, I like to listen late into the night and so ripped the CD's to mp3 and re-wrote them to a data mp3 cd so as I can put the whole series on one disc for my DVD player.
For the first and second series this was no problem... but for the tertiary phase each 30 minute episode is "split" into 10 tracks. When I play the audio CD's there is no delay, the track just smoothly trips over to the next with no audible pause. But when I write the data cd's it splits the 10 "chapters" for each episode and thus I get a 2 second or so delay while it changes tracks... this is very annoying as it might be in the middle of a speech!

So, is this a security feature or can I remove the gaps between chapters? I know I could do it by pasting the chapters together in my editing software and then re-saving as a single track but this would take ages..... is there an easy utility that will allow me to tell my cdwriter that tracks 1-10 all form part one and tracks 11-20 all form part 2????

Sorry for blabbering so much but it is hard to explain!!

The 2 second gap is part of the original specification for a music CD. Most CD burning applications can ignore it and create a seamless audio CD. If you use Nero Express or Nero you just need to check "No pause between tracks". It's usually in the same place as the "Normalize audio" option.

Thanks Da Chicken.... I tried this last night but the option to remove the gap only appears in "make audio CD" which of course then limits me to 80 minutes... I want to put 3 hours of mp3's onto the disc. If I select "make mp3 disc" I can of course do this but then I cannot find the tick box to remove the gap anywhere.

Is the option to remove the gap actually available in "make mp3 disc"? I have read through the help file but although it discusses the option it does not tell you where and when you may use it.

Any further help or suggestions very welcome!!!

    Thanks

    Rick

    Hi guys.
Just to let you know I didnt use the software suggested here but if you are interested a quick search on download.com led me to a tiny little 700K proggy called "merge mp3" which is a lovely little application that lets you simply click and drag any mp3 files into a window and rearrange them in whtever order you like before clicking "merge"..... and it does it. It works really well and has done the job I wanted! (Apparently NERO cannot remove the gaps between mp3 files unless you are writing an audio disc).

    Thanks for your time guys!!!

hope not to have to see you too soon!!!!
