I own a program called Audio MP3 Maker. I converted some songs from a retail CD I own to MP3 format and put them on a blank CD. When I go to play the CD, the converted MP3's do not play at all. The CD player tries to read the CD but can't play the file. Any other MP3 I own plays fine if I copy it to a blank CD but for some reason when I convert a .CDA file to MP3 with this program it doesn't work.. any ideas? Is the program I bought bogus? Yes I did buy this program unfortunately...for the sole purpose I need it and it isn't working!

snakefoot has given you good advice, and his intentions are good, but the thing I'm concerned about is... you bought the program, so I would hate to just ditch it and use something else. It just seems like a waste of money to do that, but it may be the best way to go.

Have you tried to contact the vendor? I would definately either try to seek a solution with the makers of the program or at least a refund if nothing else. Ripping .cda files is something I often do myself. I use a program called Easy CD Ripper. You may want to go with snakefoot's suggestion, because Easy CD Ripper isn't free either. You can, however, download it and try it out to see if it's your style.

Like I said before, I would definately seek assistance from the makers of the program you have. I wouldn't be happy if I'd shelled out hard earned cash for something that doesn't work. One question, though... I understand that the other CD's you've burned seem to work fine, but did you use the same program to burn the CD's? If not, what program did you use? (e.g. Nero, Roxio, etc.) It might not actually be the CD ripping program.. it might turn out to be the program you're using to actually burn the CD, or maybe just a fault with that particular blank CD you used.

If you are running Win98 you don't even need to rip CD's!
Find CDFS.VXD device driver (39 KB), copy it to your \Windows\System\IOSubSys directory and reboot (make backup of the original file first). In Explorer audio CD's will then appear as WAV files, which you can simply copy to hard disk or load directly into your MP3 converting program.

For converting from/to MP3 format I use MusicMatch Jukebox.

here's what happened. I downloaded a trial version of the program and it worked great, so I bought it. Last night I converted some .CDA files off a CD I own to MP3, and put the MP3 on a blank CD. For some reason the converted CDA's didn't play, but other MP3's that were never converted that I have on my hard drive worked fine.. I am going to try again tonight. The program I paid for also will convert .CDA to .WAV ... maybe if I convert the CDA to WAV it will work.. what do you think? WAV music files will play on a CD right?

Ok... now I have another question. What kind of CD player are you using to play the converted files? Maybe you're not using any kind of CD player, but trying to play them on the computer? In any case, it seems that if the trial version of the program worked fine with no problems, I would think that the fault is not with the program.

As for .wav files, I'm sure there are some special CD players out there that will play them. If you're attempting to just play them on your computer, then sure... .wave files will play just fine with most any audio player. However, most CD players aren't made to play a .wav file, and I would have to advise against converting those .cda to .wav.

At this point, I'm starting to suspect either the equipment you're trying to play the files with or the software you're using to burn the files to CD. Converting .cda to .mp3 is, for the most part, a pretty simple task and I would, again, have to say the program isn't at fault here, but please realize that troubleshooting such a problem without actually being there is somewhat difficult and I could be wrong altogether.

Here's a quick suggestion... kind of a shot in the dark, but might be worth a try. Make sure you have your registration information for the program written down somewhere... (i.e. the user name and password or whatever was given to you to register the full version of the program). After you've done this, try reinstalling the program. This is kind of a cheap solution, but I don't see that it would hurt to try. If you're reluctant or unsure if you should do that, then don't! Hope you get the problem resolved! :)

    T-Rex,

When I first made the CD, I tried to play it first in my CD ROM and it did not work. I then ttook it out and put it in my CD Player, and the CD Player was unable to play the CD as well... thank for the reply..
