Hello, I've got db poweramp, and with the new version you can't encode mp3 without paying a licencing fee...

Are there any ways around this? I've got win xp, and it comes with fraunhofer codec, does it not? Can I copy the codec from my os to dbpoweramp? If so, how do I get to it in my os? I can't find it in a search...

Or, what are some other ways of encoding? That would encode flac to mp3? I've discovered easytree, and my HD is full to the brim, so I need to burn some discs and keep the mp3's to listen to on my computer... thanks a lot...

Do you have Nero? It has built in .mp3, .ogg, and .wma encoding, and you only need to pay if you want to encode into .mp3PRO format.

You mean it literally won't do MP3 encoding without the license fee? I saw nothing on the site that would suggest that.

    literally. :)

I don't know where on the site to look for it, but I remember it saying it somewhere... It's a one month free trial due to licencing issues or patent infringement or some other gobbledegook... and I remember someone complaining about the same thing in a download site where you rated the software... I just didn't plan on encoding to mp3, and I figured if I did, I could find some way around it.. I had poweramp a while back before all this, and it's a good product... I just want some mp3's to take some stuff on my HD...

Find the old version (dMC-RC10.exe), if you can. I use it and have no issues with it, and now I'm glad I kept it.

    hello,

There is a free program, called Audiograbber, which will do the job very well. You can get it from here.
Install first Audiograbber, then download LAME MP3 DLL and extract from the archive only lame_enc.dll file to C:\audiograbber. This way you get the internal MP3 encoder you need.
    How to use it:
    - run Audiograbber, then go to Settings > General Settings and select the directory where Audiograbber should create the MP3 files.
    - again Settings > MP3 Settings to choose the bitrate, quality etc.
    - press Browse under "Create a MP3 now" to select the WAV files you wish to convert to MP3.
Note: Audiograbber accepts only 16bit/44,100/stereo and up as input WAV files. So, you need some times to convert a WAV first to these parameters, then use Audiograbber. The "Sound Recorder" of Microsoft, will do the job.

    good luck

    Stefan
