    Hi

What Windows version and Service Pack are you using?

What version of Windows Media Player are you using?
IIRC it maybe installed with Windows Media Player 11 HERE

or failing that as I know I have it on my PC and the only think I installed is the Vista Codec Pack HERE

Other than that its a retail paid for codec on its own,

Yeah - the MPEG Layer 3 codec (aka 55 or more correctly 0x0055) is a standard MP3 audio codec. I thought it came preinstalled with Windows Media Player. There's a good chance your codec has been 'broken'. Try Halo's suggestion with the Vista Codec Pack (it works with Windows XP and Windows 7 also, not just Vista) or the KLite Full Codec Pack. I haven't used the Vista Pack suggested above in quite some time, but I know the KLite pack will scan for and remove/repair any broken codecs during the install process..... good luck! Let us know how it goes!!!

    :D
