I got an Mp3 player for my birthday in January. The device had been working normally until about 2 weeks ago.

Lately when stating up the Mp3 player and while playing music the device has been freezing up. It is doing this quite frequently. Any suggestions?

The device is a Philips Go Gear 512MB Mp3 player.

is it freezing up during playback or only when a song is just about to start?

freezing up as in not working at all? or jittery?

The device is freezing up at random times. When it freezes it just stops...the display quits scrolling across the screen and the music quits playing. To get it working again I have to yank the battery out. None of the buttons will work when it is froze up.

**Would you think this is a virus or manufacture defect?

**If any way possible, (and if it's possible a virus),I would liked to have if fixed today because we are leaving to go on vacation in the morning. I know this forum takes time but please help.

    Thanks in advance...

It is possible to get viruses on MP3 players. Does your MP3 player use its own battery, or like a AA or AAA?

    It uses one AAA battery.

    Thanks...

If it's not a battery problem. You most likely have a hard drive problem. Does this thing still have a warrenty?

I have no clue. Is there any way that I can tell whether the problem is a virus? As I said before, I would like to have this thing fixed tonight...if possible.

    Thanks...

Please help...It's getting late. I'm leaving in the morning. Is there any way I can tell if the problem is a virus? I posted a forum under malware removal and done all of the steps in read and run me first and one of you "geeks" replied back and said, "Based on what I have seen from your logs the problem is not based on malware." How can we be sure?

If the problem is something in the device going bad what do I need to do?

My MP3 player, which is a different brand, will do the same thing. Nothing I can do about it. Although, it doesn't seem to do it as often if I have the volume turned down some. Do a google search on yours.
