I bought a 1GB Memorex MMP8561 MP3 player for my girlfriend for christmas, and I took it out of the package to put a few songs on and charge it up. I plugged it in with the provided USB cable (which the instructions say to use to charge it with), and all it does is dock with the computer, but it doesn't show that it's charging at all... I left it plugged in all day today and it's still sitting on 50% charge. This is the charge that was with it from the factory. I added a few songs, but it still isn't charging. I installed all of the software it came with, and tried plugging it in on two separate computers (laptop and PC), but nothing seems to charge it.

Does anybody else have a solution for it?

Have you tried a different USB cable?

Looks like all I had to do was hit the power button a few times for it to start charging... Sorry for the use of web space.
