I have a couple of MP3 files on my computer that would be nice to listen to on a cd player, but I on't know how to get them from my computer to a CD in a format that will be usable in a cd player. I know there must be a simple way to convert these files but I am ignorant of how to do it. The software that came with my computer is Adaptec Direct CD and Adaptec Easy CD Creator. I am also using Windows Media Player. All of these programs will burn CDs, but the files must already be in WAVe format. If I burn an MP3 file, all I hear is static when I try to play it on a conventional CD player. Is there a way to use my current software or should I look for something different? Thanks for your help.

Try Nero, it converts MP3 to CDA on the fly and burns them. A demo is available in our backup section. I have used it for years without a problem. I am not a fan of Adaptec, Easy CD Creator so I will leave that one be.

    Thank you.

P.S. I am not a fan of Adaptec either - more headaches than I want to talk about here. Sometime I will post a thread asking for advice on how to control that monster! ;)

Try CDBurner XP Pro. It's available from Major Geeks. It's freeware, though it doesn't hurt to make a donation if they ask.

For burning music CDs and converting from/to MP3 I use exclusively MusicMatch Jukebox. It's fast and reliable.

I quit using Easy CD Creator years ago :(
Nero has been my primary burning program ever since. :)

I wish I had seen your reply last night! Somewhere on my computer is MusicMatch Jukebox (came bundled on it - I forgot I even had it).

I ended up downloading a great little conversion program from Qwerks for only $13.00 (+ an extra $10.00 for the CD which is optional). If anyone is interested, the website is Qwerks MP3 to WAVe converter. I really like the program - it is extremely small and simple. I successfully converted all the files I wanted to convert and didn't have to get a degree to do it.

As for Adaptec Easy CD creator - GRRR! It took me til 4 AM to figure out how to make that thing burn a CD!!! I really have to wonder if the people who produced that program are deliberately making software as difficult and counter-intuitive as possible. And don't even think of getting tech support - I don't even want to talk about how user unfriendly their website and phone lines are - another story for another thread...

I'm glad to hear that Roxio can make something that is worthwhile.

As for me, I will have to get professional counselling before I can put this traumatic experience with Adaptec behind me and move on to anything else made by that company! :p ;)
