mp3p?

How can i play mp3p files on my pc and what are they. i have two files which are 80 kbps and the players i have wont play them.ive tried the winamp plug in but still no luck.Is there a downloadable free player available anywhere. Thanks in advance regards auldfeller

 

i don't think those are music files

are you sure that is not a mp3 player

or a play list directory?

 

No ive been assured its a different format to mp3 .

Every music folder i have is described as mp3 in its filename but the couple i cannot get to play are described as mp3p.
From what i can gather it is suppose to be smaller file size, kbps but with negligible loss of quality these are the only music files i have that are 80 kbps all the other playable ones are 192kbps or above.I could always get the files as mp3 but its bugging me now and i wanna know.Or am i completely off the mark and misreading this which is probably the case.

Was wondering what was of mp3p's I remeber reading about them far time ago but they never materialized into anything.

Ahh, mp3 pro... what a joke.

Change the filename to mp3 and it should work just fine... the whole idea of mp3pro is that its encoded just the same as a normal mp3, but it has some extra data which is ignored by non-compliant players.

The artist is kt tunstall useless info i know but just in case you were mildly interested.

 

Run it through gspot and it says directshow claims to be able to play this file.Isnt that active x?

 

Hey, is the file big? I could run it thru a few of my audio filters see if I can work out what it is and what you need to play it, if you emailed one to me. Heck I could even convert em for you if its not too massive.

It looks like its an mp3....MPEG 2.0 layer 3 .... but hmm.....
