    Win 7x64 - WMP 12
How can I import, edit and play mp4?
I was told to just Start>asociate a file type and select Win media player with MP4.
I corrupted the WMP last time I imported MP4 to WMP 12 so need to know if the above idea will do it or if there is a better way.
I have heard there is a lite kit and also that VLC is an option but I don't know if it needs a codec.
    Thank you

    Hi Plodr
    Please bear with me.
I have read that link, thank you.
The last time I involved WMP 12 by importing, it became corrupted by the mp4 files.
I can play them as is but the problem is, raw files, like the ones imported that corrupt the player.
Once the files are burned to dvd they play fine.
So it isn't that WMP can't play them, it cannot import and edit raw files.
I have spent endless hours looking for some literature that states it can work with raw files, unless I am not reading correctly.
I read where you can change WMP to play them, and have read about many programs that play them.
It seems even VLC needs to be modified after installed.
I am trying to figure this out without bothering you and others but I am beginning to wonder if you can work wiith raw mp4 files.
Every "editor" I read about goes on to say to have to do something else after you install the program. I hate to install some program and find it isn't working with raw files.
Sorry to be so lengthy but it is hard to explain.

I do not use MWP. I was trying to find a player for you that could import and play mp4 files with no problem. I've never edited any video file so I can't offer any insight into the best way to do this.
Where are you importing these raw files from? That might help others so they can mention some software that might work.

    Hi again plodr
I have Flip camera and take videos. Their software is bad so I don't involve it.
The point is, I hook the camera to the pc via usb then open Computer and open DCIM and copy and paste the raw mp4 files to desktop without previewing them as WMP gets corrupted by raw mp4 files. I just burn the files to dvd with Roxio.
I wouLd like to be able to view and edit the files but that means involving WMP 12 which gets corrupted.
When you start to read up on actually editing or viewing raw mp4 files it gets confusing. They all talk about playing them.
