MPC Slow Video Playback

I built a media center out of spare parts a while back, and it's been running really well for a while now. I made a minor upgrade to the graphics card a while ago (Over 6 months ago), and it was running great. Just recently however I've started to experience a lot of stuttering with videos. It's sorta skips. It plays smooth for 1-2 seconds, then stops for an instant, and resumes. During really detailed parts, the video will drag to a slideshow.

I've got a PC with an Intel Pentium 4 1.4 GHz, 896 MB of RAM, Windows XP, And an NVIDIA GeForce 6800 XT.

I use the Combined Community Codec Pack (CCCP) for my Codecs, and Media Player classic for my player. I've updated my drivers, I've reinstalled my codecs, I've reinstalled my media player. None of that's done anything.

tl;dr -- My movies stutter when I play them. I've done the usual codecs, drivers, and player updates / reinstalls, but nothing has helped so far.

I don't mean to be impatient, but it seems like a lot of my questions are going unanswered lately. Not because I haven't waited (some of my questions will go for several days unanswered before they finally just fall off the list.)

I'm not upset or anything, but maybe if nobody can help me with this problem, somebody can direct me to a forum that can. Maybe some place that specializes in video related problems?

    Thanks in advance.

If everything was running fine until recently, and you've checked all the codecs, drivers, etc, then it may that either the PC is running low on resources due to malware, a runaway process, or a new program (or several programs) is using up more RAM than usual. Maybe the PC is in need of some general maintenance (here's good maintenance info http://forums.majorgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=106650). There's also a slight chance that the video card is going out, but that probably isn't the case. Running a good memory diagnostic may be a good idea though. Check the Memory downloads here at Major Geeks, there's several good free apps in there. Feel free to check the forums at www.afterdawn.com also. It's a great site for all things multimedia related.
