MS $ 1st download; don't want 12 months

I have a Dell Inspirion running Win XP with MS Money 2004. Being lazy, I thought maybe I'd start downloading my Discover statements although I am paranoid about how secure that might be.

But everything I read says that it will download for the past TWELVE MONTHS. I am now afraid to do it for fear that I'll have double entries for all the ones I've been doing by hand.

I've looked at MS support (hah!) and also did a Search here in my go-to forums, but haven't found this particular conundrum yet.

Has anyone downloaded the first time after having kept records for several years? Did it duplicate the entries?

Does anyone know a workaround so I could start downloading from, say, this past July instead of a whole year?

    Thanks!

yes it will duplicate it but during the download process it gives you the option to manually reconcile the entries that it finds are the same. it searches for the exact dates in the download. the hard part is going to be to make sure the dates and money matches up.
there should be a work around on discover to put in the exact dates you want to down load I would contact discover and see if there was a way to limit the download to specific statements

I appreciate the info. I see your point, that the dates may not match up since there are the dates I spent and the dates they are posted, for one thing.

Discover is pretty clear on their site that info comes from MS, not them; they recommend contacting the software folks for any instructions. After the original download, one can choose the statements one wants at one's pleasure.

I think doing by hand will actually be easier. Sigh. Life ain't easy when you're lazy....
