ms downloads blocked by spybot by mistake

This morning I booted my computer and received a message from spybot " double click is attempting to access your computer this is a known risk" do you want sb to block it. I clicked yes before I realized that ms automatic updates were ready to load. I removed sb thinking this would allow me to download updates but that didn't work. this is my first post !!!
I am running compac series 5000 , 1.3 GHz intel celeron processor 40 gig hd.256MB ram, windows xp home , firefox browzer. ZA firewall & norton antivirus
my question is how do i take the block off that spybot put in???
