    This is error message:
"unable to open "https:www.URL.com". Cannot download the information you requested."

I have 2 laptops. Near identical. Both have Win 7 Pro. One is 64 bit, other is 32 bit. MS Office 2007, Enterprise Edition. I have a particular Excel file on each machine that is identical for content. Today I went to login to a hyperlinked secure web site on the 32 bit machine. I get an error message. "unable to open https://www.URL.com. Cannot download the information you requested." I can manually put in the link to the webpage and it opens. I can open the same Excel file, on the 64 bit machine, and use the hyperlink to the same webpage, and it opens just fine.
On the 32 bit machine, the other HTTPS hyperlinks work just fine. Only the one in particular. The 64 bit machine opens all just fine. This just started.

    "https:www.URL.com"
that address is wrong. It needs //
    so it should be
    https://www.URL.com
I get 503 error Service Temporarily Unavailable.
Translated: The server is currently unable to handle the request due to a temporary overloading or maintenance of the server.
It is not on your end; it is a problem with the server on the other end.

That was a typo on my part. The hyperlink in the document works on another computer. It works on a totally different computer as well. I have determined that most likely I have a corrupt installation of MS Office on the computer in question. I went to install Office, and found the DVD optical drive was not functioning. I made a copy of the disc onto a flash drive and installed that way. I tested the optical drive in another machine and it worked. I swapped in another known working optical drive into the machine with the problem. No drive function. I got another laptop out and did a fresh install of all software, along with a bigger drive. I copied and pasted the document into the fresh machine, and the hyperlink works just fine. I think its time to scrap the laptop with issues and be done with it.

Sounds like a good plan that will save you further headaches.

I probably got the 503 error because my computer doesn't have Office on it.
