I just got a used Compaq Presario from a friend. I installed a fresh copy of XP home over the top of the same os (to get a fresh copy. I start the pc or even while using it, every few seconds it says... "Windows Installer is preparing to install MS MONEY. then... The feature you are trying to install on a CD Rom is not available." The PC had MS Money on it, but I uninstalled it earlier. How do I get this message to go AWAY? Thanks,
    Tony

When you did the reinstall did you use the new product key or did it just as you say copy over what was already there.
That compaq probably came with an oem version of windows and MS money was probably bundled with it, therefor refreshing the system and not doing a clean install has the oem version looking for it's bundled program..

    windows cleanup utility
try to run this program and see if you can remove signs of money from the installer itself.
Also I would run Ccleaner when you run ccleaner run the registry cleaner portion (back up registry before) this may also remove remnants of programs that you no longer have

Thanks for the reply. When I did the reinstall of XP, I was asked for the key, and when I put that in I was directed to call Microsoft to register the OS. I did that and when I rebooted itstill tried to load MS MONEY.
