    Hi there!

I have a little problem which is annoying, would like to fix it. I have MS Office 2003 Student & Teacher Edition installed on 2 computers (Yes, we qualify!)

On the PC, I can copy and paste into a Word doc and the formatting of the material I am copying and pasting stays as it was. I am also able to include graphics.

On the laptop, however, the formatting reverts to whatever format the rest of the document is, which I do not want.

I've consulted the help section, and it mentions the little clipboard icon appearing at the end of the pasted material after you paste it, and from there you can choose format options. Well, the laptop doesn't show that, and I can't find the settings to change it to the way I want it to appear. When I copy and paste to the word doc, I want it to stay in the original format.

    What am I missing here?

Thanks! (Windows XP Pro on the laptop, Windows XP Media Center Edition on the PC.)

I tried going to tools-options-edit. The option to 'show paste options button' is checked. However, the button never shows up on the laptop. I've tried in more than one word doc to see if the font I was using was having any effect. Nothing. Is there anything more I can do to MS word to fix this? It is extremely, extremely annoying, to say the least. Actually, since it also will not paste pictures and hyperlinks, it is really hampering my work. A repair option for MS Office or something like that?

    Thanks!

I found one mention of this problem via google, and it took me to a site that wanted me to join for a 'free 7 day trial' before I could view the solution. When I clicked on the button to see what that was all about, my browser gave out warnings about the security on that site not being so great. So...no.

I ran the repair tool. It didn't help.

So basically the problem is that although in tools-options-edit, I have the check in the box to show the paste options button, the paste options button does not show up. What I need is information on how to fix this. Actually, I don't think it ever did show up on this laptop, which I've had since about the end of June. It's only now that I realize that this isn't normal and it's something that can be remedied. I've got the PC and the laptop side by side and I'm comparing settings. I can't find what's wrong.

The PC came with the trial edition of this edition of Office. I purchased the CD and installed that when the trial was up. With the laptop, it came with Office 2007 installed as a trial edition. I removed all of it from the laptop and installed the 2003 version that I had already paid for. I think I uninstalled 2007 using whatever option is available...maybe it was by the add/remove programs menu. There were several entries to uninstall. I had been told to be sure and get them all or there may be problems when I install the 2003 edition.

I am hoping there is some simple solution for this. Right? Thanks!

<sigh> I've spent all morning with this, asked around...and realized that the problem is with my Opera browser!

The copy/paste thing works just like it's supposed to when I'm going from one MS Word doc to another or from IE 7 to MS Word.

I've got a question on the Opera forums, but maybe someone else here knows...I see that Microsoft Word is set as the html editor in IE 7. Does anyone know if there's a feature in Opera 9.52 that I can set to that MS Word is also the html editor. Or am I going to be installing Firefox on my laptop after all? (Yes, Firefox works just fine on the PC)

I tried this fix and it works. Heres what I did.
Go to the end of the posts in the Opera forum mentioned in my previous reply for the latest fix info.

Download the file "Installer" from this link and save. (this modifies your menu settings)
    http://lexi.ucoz.ru/oac/htm2clip_setup.zip

Unzip, and open readme, follow the instructions.

Left mouse > drag to copy > Right click, now has the option to save formated text.
